AMD annuncia la video card dual-gpu Radeon HD 6990

Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, AMD ha lanciato ufficialmente la video card dual-gpu AMD Radeon HD 6990 (cfr. le foto seguenti), una soluzione progettata per imporsi come l'attuale scheda grafica più veloce al mondo in ambito consumer. La AMD Radeon HD 6990 è già disponibile sul mercato: il suo MSRP, riferito alle implementazioni reference, è pari a $699.

La scheda, che naturalmente ricopre il ruolo di flag-ship nell'ambito della gamma AMD dei controller grafici DirectX 11 Ready, è equipaggiata con 4GB di RAM G-DDR5 @ 1250MHz e con un switch dual-bios, al fine di permettere l'overclock e l'overvolt in tutta sicurezza. Il bios 1, o di default, prevede l'impostazione della frequenza di clock delle gpu a 830MHz, mentre il bios 2 fa lavorare le gpu a 880MHz. Il numero totale di stream processor è pari a 3072 mentre ciascuna gpu è connessa alla RAM mediante un bus a 256-bit.

Tra le tecnologie supportate dalla card, AMD cita AMD Eyefinity (mediante la quale la scheda può alimentare simultaneamente fino a 6 display), AMD PowerTune e AMD HD3D (che permette il gaming in 3D qualora la scheda sia collegata a un monitor compatibile). E inoltre, AMD CrossFireX, AMD EyeSpeed, OpenGL 4.1 e HDMI 1.4a, tra le tante.

AMD Radeon HD 6990 graphics cards are available immediately from retailers worldwide, with select models starting at US $699 MSRP.
