29.02.2020 - 3dfx, again: it's time to show the Voodoo5 5500 Arctic Accelero L2 Plus Edition

Oh yeah, this is again time to work on 3dfx hardware and to get a modded SKU, always with maximum graphics card respect for its unrepeatable history.

3dfx modder and great hardware enthusiast ciacara, members of both 3dfxzone.it forums and Communities, has just shared several photos and accurated descriptions (in both english and italian languages) of its latest project: the 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 Arctic Accelero L2 Plus Edition.

Just as you can see by the pictures included in this page, ciacara has worked to implement a new cooling system for both the two 3dfx VSA-100 "GPUs" and for all integrated memory chips on PCB.

Using a complex array of snap clips and radiator brackets, also customized to match with the topology of 3dfx Voodoo5's PCB, ciacara has mounted two active coolers Arctic Accelero L2 Plus for every of the VSA-100 chips.

Furthermore, heatsinks with the thermo conductive double-sided tape have been succesfully applied to VRAM chips, and so all 3dfx Voodoo5 critical components result to be managed with a dedicate as well as customized cooling module.

According to our 3dfx modder, its 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 Arctic Accelero L2 Plus Edition is fine working with a fan noise of 29dBA at 2000RPM, and so this solution can be surely meaned as a great leap compared to the 3dfx reference and historycal fans on the acoustic side.

Last but not least, this smart 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 Arctic Accelero L2 Plus Edition video card is ready to testing. But at which frequencies?. So, see you later.
