MARKHAM, ONTARIO, Jul 27, 2006 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX News Network) -- 'Boundless gaming' comes home today as ATI Technologies (TSX:ATY)(NASDAQ:ATYT) announced that leading system integrators and OEMs from around the world are bringing to market the powerful combination of ATI's Radeon X1900 CrossFire multi-GPU graphics and the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor. As the graphics solution most chosen for Intel Core 2 demo systems at Computex 2006, ATI CrossFire has become the preferred graphics platform of leading system integrators and OEMs for their Intel Core 2 Extreme processor offerings.

The rendering horsepower of two ATI graphics cards in concert with the brawn of the new Intel Core 2 Extreme processor works to break down the barriers associated with traditional gaming, addressing GPU- and CPU-bound scenarios to produce leading image quality and performance in games. The result is 'boundless gaming.' Today through system integrators and OEMs, more than twenty 'boundless gaming' systems are available to gamers everywhere.

"ATI CrossFire and the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor represents PC gaming excellence today," said Godfrey Cheng, director of marketing, platform technologies, ATI Technologies Inc., responsible for ATI's CrossFire strategy. "The number of system integrators and OEMs worldwide backing the platform demonstrates the impact of combining these technologies."

"Savvy customers who demand the latest in leading-edge technology can get it right now, direct from Gateway in our Gateway FX510 Series desktop PCs, which combine the cutting-edge technology of the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor platform with the top-notch performance of ATI CrossFire X1900 graphics to deliver an unsurpassed experience for gamers and PC enthusiasts," said John Schindler, Gateway's director of consumer product marketing. "Gateway's cooler, quieter BTX design further complements the supercharged power of the new Intel Core 2 Extreme processor and photorealistic image quality produced by ATI CrossFire graphics to deliver industry-leading reliability, even when handling the most powerful technologies available today."

"Velocity Micro gaming systems promise the ultimate immersion in the computing experience, and the performance of the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor platform combined with ATI CrossFire graphics delivers that," said Randy Copeland, president, Velocity Micro. "With the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor and ATI CrossFire X1900 graphics, Velocity Micro's custom-designed, custom built enthusiast systems give gamers fast performance, with uncompromising attention to detail and reliability."

"Alienware fully supports the perfect blend of ATI's Crossfire X1900 graphics and Intel's Core 2 Extreme processor as the ideal combination for a high-performance gaming solution," said Frank Azor, senior vice president and general manager of Alienware's Worldwide Product Group. "By incorporating these technologies into Alienware systems users will be given the tools to tackle any task with the fastest performance, reliability and in vivid detail."

"Voodoo PCs represent the pinnacle of computing performance and luxury, categories that the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor platform and ATI CrossFire graphics excel at," said Rahul Sood, president and CTO, VoodooPC. "The new Intel Core 2 Extreme processor and CrossFire X1900 graphics combined with Voodoo's elite PC craftsmanship brings gamers the highest performance possible, unsurpassed image quality, all in a cool, quiet, and stylish package that makes this gaming's piece de resistance."

"As the UK's leading manufacturer of performance systems, MESH is dedicated to using cutting-edge technology that gives gamers the competitive advantage they're looking for," said Tony Riccardi, general manager, MESH Computers. "Today there's no bigger competitive advantage than the combined might of the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor and ATI CrossFire graphics, and with MESH's award-winning design of built-to-order systems, we're bringing gamers high performing, ultra-reliable machines."

"The choice of an ATI Crossfire X1900 based multi-GPU graphics solution for our top of the line gaming systems was an easy decision for us," said Dan Goldsmith, technical director of Armari Ltd. "It provides leading image quality and performance, with both HDR (High-Definition Rendering) together with Anti Aliasing and that's what our enthusiast customers are demanding."

Robin Daunter, Evesham R&D manager said "this is what the educated users have been waiting for: a faster processor which is cooler and costs less to run, coupled with the awesome power of ATI CrossFire in the multi-award-winning Evesham box, all of which is sure to cause some havoc in the ultimate PC enthusiast arena."
