Windows 98 First Edition:

The Service Pack 1 for Windows 98 (SP1) must be installed in the machine.

Windows 98 Second Edition:

If the USB Host controller is an Open HCI controller,
the version of the file openhci.sys must be greater than 4.10.0.2228

Please apply the patch from Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) F263218/Q253697

Windows XP:

If the USB Host controller is an Universal HCI controller,
Please apply the Windows XP Hotfix Q316397 from Windows Update.
This Hotfix is named <Windows Messenger Audio Update>.

For all Operating Systems:

DMA transfers must be validated for hard disks and CDRoms/DVDRoms.

Windows 98/Millenium:

My Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager:

Disk Drives -> GENERIC IDE DISK TYPE47 -> Properties -> Settings:
- Check the DMA box
CDROM -> <CDROM Name> -> Properties -> Settings:
- Check the DMA box

Windows 2000/XP:

My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager:
IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers -> Primary/Secondary IDE channel:
Properties -> Advanced Settings:

- Transfer Mode: DMA if available
- Current Transfer Mode: DMA or Ultra DMA
