================================================================= Diamond Viper II Z200 Series MeTaL Support files for Unreal Tournament Version 2.0.0.4 ================================================================= 1. Purpose This package contains the MeTaL update for the Savage2000 chipset for use with Unreal Tournament. 2. Contents of viperII_metal_2004.exe: readme.txt MeTaL.dll MeTaLdrv.dll 3. Getting started The package you have downloaded is a self-extracting executable file. It will, by default, extract the files to C:\UnrealTournament\System . If this is not where your Unreal Tournament is installed, please change the default extraction path to match. 4. Setup for Unreal Tournament A. Copy MeTaL.dll and MeTaLdrv.dll into the \UnrealTournament\system directory. Overwrite existing files. This is done for you automatically when you run viperII_metal_2004.exe. B. Launch Unreal Tournament Safe Mode from the Start Menu. C. Click on the option to "Change 3D Device" D. Click on "Show All Devices" E. Highlight S3 MeTaL for Windows F. Click Next button G. Complete Setup following onscreen advice H. Click on Run! I. Note: To change resolution and color depth, access the Options->Preferences->Video menu within the game. 5. Changes A. Added additional support for 4.05B update of Unreal Tournament B. Added support for 3 textures in a single pass. C. General optimizations. D. Minor texture corruption fixes 6. Known Issues A. Some versions of the Savage2K drivers may cause a GPF when launching the game. Please use the latest available driver from the S3 web page if you experience problems launching the game. B. These drivers are optimized for UnrealTournament, and may not work properly with other games that utilize the original Unreal engine. It is recommended that other Unreal engine games are played using the D3D rendering option, and not by placing this MeTaL.dll file into the system directory of the game. Future MeTaL versions should work with all current and upcoming Unreal engine based games. C. May see some very slight flickering during the opening flyby sequence.
