1. INTRODUCTION
===============

The Intel(R) Desktop Control Center allows you to modify cooling
parameters to ensure system stability, optimize performance, and control
cooling/acoustic characteristics. You may perform stress tests to verify
system and setting stability and conduct performance testing to measure
the impact of system configuration and setting modifications. The system
gauges provide real time feedback of relevant information so you can
observe the effects of various changes.

This README file contains the latest information for the Intel Desktop
Control Center software application v5.0.0.148 beta release or newer.

======================
2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
======================

Hardware Requirements
---------------------
The Intel Desktop Control Center v5.0.0.148 or newer supports only the
Intel(R) Desktop Board DP55KG and the Intel(R) Desktop Board DP55SB.

A video graphics card with hardware-based support for Microsoft* DirectX* 10
is highly recommended.

CPU overclocking features are only available with Intel(R) Extreme Edition
processors. Intel Desktop Control Center v5.0.0.148 or newer will run on
non-Extreme Edition processors, but the CPU overclocking features will
not be enabled.

Operating System
----------------
Intel Desktop Control Center software should be installed on the Intel(R)
Desktop Boards DP55KG and DP55SB with one of the following operating systems:

 - Microsoft Windows* Vista* operating systems (32-bit and 64-bit)
for Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise.

 - Microsoft Windows XP* Professional (32-bit and 64-bit) and
Home Edition with Service Pack 2 and up.

 - Microsoft Windows* 7 operating system (32-bit and 64-bit)

Note: If your system has other applications running that could
prevent a system reboot, please close those applications
before starting an installation to protect you from loss
      of any unsaved data.

Note: The Windows Vista Starter Edition is not supported.
Earlier operating system versions of Windows 95, 98, 98 SE,
NT, 2000, ME, and Server 2003 are not supported.

Note: Computers based on the Microsoft Windows XP operating system
also require installation of the Microsoft .NET Framework
Version 3.0 Redistribution Package software or later. If any of
these items are missing, SETUP.EXE will automatically download
and install them if the PC is connected to the internet.

Note: The Intel(R) Desktop Control Center v5.0.0.148 or newer is not
backwards compatible with any previous versions of Intel Desktop
Control Center. You cannot revert back to a previous version
of IDCC after you install this build.

BIOS Requirements
-----------------

Make sure you have BIOS 3712 or newer installed. If you're not sure
what BIOS version is installed, restart the PC and press F2 to enter
the BIOS setup. The BIOS version will be displayed. For example,
BIOS 3712 is noted as follows: KGIBX10J.86A.3712.2009.xxxx.xxxx.

If you don't have BIOS 3712 or newer installed, you can download it
   from the site: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
(search on "3712" or a newer version)

Display Configuration
---------------------
The minimum supported display configuration is 1024x768 pixels with
16-bit color or higher and Normal font size.

Available Addressable System Memory
-----------------------------------
System resources and hardware (such as PCI and PCI Express*) require
physical memory address locations that can reduce available addressable
system memory. This could result in a reduction of as much as 1 GB or
more of physical addressable memory being available to the operating
system and applications, depending on the system configuration and
operating system.

4. Known Issues and Solutions
=============================

After installing Intel Desktop Control Center v5.0.0.148 or newer, if you
encounter issues that are not documented below, please send an email to:
    idccfeedback@intel.com

Also attach the following file:

  C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTEL\INTEL(R) DESKTOP CONTROL CENTER\LOGS\IDCC.LOG
	(for 32-bit OS)

  C:\PROGRAM FILES(x86)\INTEL\INTEL(R) DESKTOP CONTROL CENTER\LOGS\IDCC.LOG
	(for 64-bit OS)

It also helps to include a screen shot of the error message and include your
BIOS version, and operating system version (Windows XP, or Windows Vista).
Also let us know if the OS is 32-bit or 64-bit and your operating system language.

Known Issues List:
------------------

- ISSUE: IDCC does not support S3/S4 (sleep/hibernate) sleep states when
using Microsoft Windows* Vista* or Windows 7 operating systems.
If "Sleep" mode (S3) or "Turn off hard disks" for Hibernate state
(S4) are entered when IDCC is running, then IDCC will stop
working. Upon system wake up, a fatal error message will appear
              immediately.
ACTION: Disable S3/S4 sleep/hibernate modes before launching IDCC.
WORKAROUND: Reboot the system and then disable S3/S4 before running IDCC.
STATUS: This issue is under investigation.

- ISSUE: Auto Tuning total elapsed time is more than the proposed timeframe
selected. Issue appears to occur intermittently.
WORKAROUND: None at this time. Disregard the elapsed time. Testing shows
that the Auto Tuning session does finish within the selected
              timeframe.
STATUS: This issue is under investigation.

- ISSUE: IDCC does not prompt for a reboot after applying a different XMP
              Memory Profile.
WORKAROUND: IDCC will prompt for reboot if the user chooses the Apply button
              again, or closes IDCC.
STATUS: This issue is under investigation.

- ISSUE: In Windows* 7, the IDCC icon for Program and Features (Add or
Remove Programs) and the UAC message prompt during uninstallation
              is not showing up correctly.
STATUS: This issue is under investigation.

- ISSUE: The Memory frequency doesnt match between IDCC and BIOS Setup
(press F2 key) after the Memory Multiplier in BIOS was changed
from the Default value to "Auto". Memory Frequencies values on
the System tab, Memory palette, and Main dash are correct; the
value of the Memory Speed reported in BIOS Setup is incorrect.
STATUS: This issue is under investigation.
